Mahindra Persaud, 16, is now dead after he was involved in an accident at Number 78 Village, Corentyne Berbice last Saturday.

Persaud was a pillion rider of motorcycle #CJ1342 owned and driven by 18-year-old Akthor Nahor, who police say, is not the holder of a driver’s license.

Enquiries disclosed that motorcycle #CJ1342 was proceeding north along the western drive lane of Crabwood Creek Public Road Corentyne Berbice at a fast rate of speed when it is alleged by the driver that about 15 feet ahead of him, a cow ran from west to east into his path.

The front portion of his motorcycle collided with the cow. As a result, both the driver and pillion rider fell onto the roadway and they received injuries to their bodies.

They were picked up in a conscious condition by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Skeldon Public Hospital where they were treated and discharged.

However, two days later, Persaud was taken back to the Skeldon Public Hospital in an unconscious condition by relatives where he was again seen, treated, and referred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital for further treatment and later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital. He was admitted a patient in the intensive care unit and was later pronounced dead by a doctor.

The body is presently lying at the Georgetown Public Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
