Winston Meredith, 48, a chainsaw operator of Nottinghamshire, Upper Demerara River died yesterday after he was pinned by a tree around 10:00hrs at First Savannah, Tacama Road, Upper Demerara.

According to Police, Meredith along with three others, were cutting down a tree at a concession owned by Samantha Brown, when a nearby tree got entangled and hit him on his forehead.

He fell to the ground, became unconscious and the tree fell on him pinning him to the ground.

The other workers went to his assistance and they managed to pull his motionless body from under the tree.

He was then escorted to the Linden Hospital Complex and was pronounced dead on arrival.

The body is at the G.Jetsco Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
