Police are currently conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the death of a West Bank Demerara (WBD) couple in an apparent murder-suicide after they were discovered motionless by the woman’s relatives on Wednesday morning.

Dead are 36-year-old  Camele Robertson- Rodrigues and 46-year-old  Rollins Rodrigues also known as “Rawl” of Recht- Door-zee, Phase One on the WBD.

Guyana Standard understands that the couple has been legally married have and lived together for some seven years.

The woman’s nephew told this publication that, “she come home at around 19:30-20:00hrs last night from the hinterland after she went there to help her friend with some work, the same house they were found dead in is the same friend house who she went and help they de live in.”

The young man went on to state that an argument then ensued between  Roberson and Rodrigues after which he left for a nearby shop to take a few drinks.

“This morning her son come tell me he pulled the window blind and his stepfather hanging with a rope around his neck in the house and I run to the house.”

He continued to state that, upon arrival at the house he pulled a window blind and peeked through and saw Rodrigues hanging from the roof of the house with a rope tied around his neck.

“I then break down the door to get into the house and after I saw he. Then I turned to look for her, so I noticed a door in the house that was lock, so I break down the door and I see her lying on her belly on the bed in a set of blood, when I turn she ova her throat had a slit and she had a set of stab on she body.”

He further stated that “the man was consuming alcohol for the past three days before she came home and most of the time he would make threats that he would murder her because she don’t spend enough time him. “

However, the young man also related to Guyana Standard that Robertson has two kids from her previous relationship, while Rodrigues told them he had one child from his previous relationship also.

Additionally, he said, “One time she had another guy name “Tony” and he and uncle “Rawl” had some issues and uncle “Rawl” de fire a lash on he and after that he never came around back, so like I really don’t know what exactly happen.”

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) has since launched an investigation.
