Nelson Thomas, 36, called ‘Nelo’ was fatally stabbed last night at Kaneville, East Coast Demerara, around 21:30hrs.
Enquires disclosed that Thomas resides at 4th Field Kaneville E.B.D with his wife and his mother and works in the interior.
However, yesterday at 12:30hrs, Thomas and his wife returned home after spending some time in the interior (Cuyuni) to have his newborn baby registered.
While at home at 19:00hrs, he told his mother that he was going to visit his uncle in 2nd street Kaneville.
A resident stated that at 21:30hrs he heard someone calling for him and upon checking, he saw the now deceased lying motionless to the eastern side of his yard under a shed attached to his house with what appeared to be blood about his body.
He called the police and reported the matter at the Grove Police Station.
It appears that Thomas was returning home when the suspect(s) attempted to rob him and stabbed him in the process.
The body was later escorted to Diamond Public Hospital where Thomas was pronounced dead on arrival.
Investigations are ongoing.
