Nearly 60 percent of prison officers and staff members have received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, the Guyana Prison Sevice said today.
Additionally, more than 50 percent of all prison inmates have received their first dose, with 45% fully vaccinated.
A weekly vaccination drive is ongoing at each Prison location, Guyana Standard understands.
Further, an initiative to increase confidence in COVID-19 vaccines and reinforce basic prevention measures among inmates are also high on the GPS agenda, a prison spokesperson said today.
Meanwhile, 90% of Guyana Defense Force (GDF) ranks have received the first dose of a COVID- 19 vaccine while 50% have received their second dose.
