The Ministry of Housing and Water through the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) has allocated 800 moderate, middle and high-income house lots in the Grove/ Diamond Block 1, Housing Development. This is the first disbursement of land for 2022, which has an overall target set at 15,000.

According to the Housing and Water Minister, Collin Croal, several other similar activities like today’s are in train, adding that the PPP/C government is well on its way to achieving the promise of 50,000 house lots in its first five years in office.

He was speaking at the “Dream Realised” 2022 Housing Drive event this morning at the Guyana National Stadium.

Minister Croal noted that this promise cannot be fulfilled without changes to the way business at the Ministry is done.

“This means making the services we provide more efficient and effective as well as to expand the role of the Ministry within the infrastructural trajectory set by the Government of Guyana,” the Minister said.

He noted that within the last 15 months, his ministry has added the construction of major roads to its portfolio, and that role has been expanding.

“In fact, we have new contracts that are now in the signing stage which will see rapid infrastructural development in several housing areas,” he said.

He added that the East Bank Corridor is seeing an injection of infrastructural projects from the government as well as the private sector. This augurs well for future of the community, he noted.
