Two men who were arrested by Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) officers on Tuesday over the possession of cocaine have since been placed on remand.

Devon Simon, 43, of Lot 16 GDF Housing Scheme, West Ruimveldt and Winston Hazel, 35, of Lot U1645 Gibson Street Tucville, were today remanded after answering to a possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking charge.

It is alleged that on March 8th 2022, at Guyhoc Park, Tucville, Georgetown, they had 5.814 kilogrammes of cocaine in their possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Both men denied the charge.

According to a release by CANU, Officers acting on intelligence conducted an operation, in the Guyhoc Park, Tucville area. During this operation, the officers intercepted a motor car with two occupants. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of five parcels of suspected cocaine.

The duo was arrested and escorted to CANU’s Headquarters along with the suspected narcotics, which tested positive for cocaine and had a total weight of 5.814 kg with a street value of $6.5 million.

They were both remanded until March 17.
