Minister of Agriculture Zulfikar Mustapha today spoke to Berbicians about the Government’s overarching development agenda—the Low carbon Development Strategy (LCDS) 2020.

As consultation on the document continues across the country, Minister Mustapha was accompanied by a technical team at Bushlot, Region Five.

Minister Mustapha told the scores of Guyanese, mainly farmers, who gathered at Bush Lot High School, that the updated LCDS serves as a roadmap to Guyana’s developmental.

He said that while the government continues to work with the various stakeholders to maintain the country’s forest resources, this will not inhibit agricultural development.

Mustapha assured that agriculture remains important to the government of Guyana. He noted too that the strategy sets out an agenda that prioritizes agricultural practices that are resilient to the growing effects of climate change.
