Twenty-one-year-old Glenton Redmond of 1584 E Field, Sophia, East Coast Demerara (ECD), appeared today at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court One before Magistrate Rushelle Liverpool to answer to the charge of Causing Death By Dangerous Driving.

Redmond allegedly caused the death of 14-year-old, pedal cyclist  Makeida Quick of Tucville Secondary School on April 10, 2022 at Section ‘E’ Field, Sophia, Georgetown.

He pleaded not guilty and bail was granted in the sum of $600,000. The matter has been adjourned to June 08, 2022 for statements.

According to previous reports, Quick, who resided at lot 668 Section D Field, Sophia, was riding south along the eastern side of Section E Field Main Access Road when she was struck by a motorcycle driven by the accused.

As a result of the collision, Quick was thrown some distance in the air before falling into a nearby drain. She reportedly died of a broken neck and leg.
