Cops in Regional Division 3 are investigating the murder of 18-year-old Donald Gibson of Lot 7 Hyde Park, Parika, East Bank Essequibo.

He was allegedly killed by a 24-year-old man, whom police have since arrested. The incident occurred around 17:30hrs yesterday at Parika Facade.

Enquiries disclosed that Gibson and the suspect were at a liquor restaurant when an argument ensued. It was reported that Gibson physically assaulted the suspect before leaving the bar.

Another argument erupted between the two men which led to a scuffle outside of the establishment. Gibson was stabbed with a knife during the altercation.

Gibson’s 19-year-old friend, Wazim Mohamed, attempted to separate the duo, but he was stabbed by the suspect to his buttocks and back.

The fight was then broken up by public-spirited persons and the suspect discarded the knife into a nearby trench.

The cops were summoned and Gibson was escorted to the Leonora Cottage Hospital where he died while receiving medical attention.

Wazim Mohamed was later treated at the said hospital and is presently a patient.

The suspect was arrested and place into custody as investigations continue.
