Police are investigating the alleged drowning of Nyron Parke, a 20-year-old labourer of Lot 31 Section ‘B’ Hype Park, East Bank Essequibo (EBE)

Parke died two days ago at Parika, sometime around 08:30 hrs.

Enquiries disclosed that Parke was employed with Archie’s and Son Stone and Supplies located at Parika, and on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at about 11:00hrs, he along with his employer and other co-workers left their work location to visit Manaka, Essequibo River, where they spend the night.

The following morning, at about 08:30hrs, the above-mentioned persons boarded a speedboat at Manaka en route to Parika. However, before moving off the landing, Parke went back to the barge to collect his bag. He failed to return to the speedboat.

As a result, a search party was launched. Parke’s body was fished out of the river in the vicinity of the barge. The body, which was motionless, was transported to Parika by his coworkers. The body was examined by a police rank for marks of violence, but none was seen.

Parke was officially pronounced dead at the Leonora Cottage Hospital. His body was further escorted to the Ezekiel Funeral Home, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
