Cops in Regional Division Seven are investigating a report of a suspected suicide by hanging committed by Dennis Nascimento, an 18-year-old Brazillian national of Boa Vista, Brazil, which occurred at about 17:00hrs on Monday at Quartstone Backdam, Cuyuni River.
Enquiries disclosed that Nascimento had been working at Quartstone Backdam. He was using his uncle’s dredge for the past few months.
His body was found hanging motionless by his co-workers at the camp with a cord around his neck suspended from a rafter.
The workers cut the rafter and lowered him to the ground. The matter was reported to the Police. Statements have not been taken yet. An investigation is in progress.
