A Berbice woman is now fighting for her life after she was mercilessly chopped by her husband at a wash bay in Rosehall town. The woman has been identified as Deoranie Badal of #56 Village Corentyne Berbice. Her husband was subsequently arrested by policemen.

A source close to the investigation told Guyana Standard that the couple had been experiencing domestic issues in the last several months.

It was further noted that on Sunday, Badal, who is a Manager at Nand Persaud Rice Mill, was at a wash bay when she was approached by her husband who initiated an argument with her.

In a fit of rage, the husband armed with a cutlass approached the woman’s vehicle and began indiscriminately chopping the front windshield.

This raised an alarm among workers of the wash bay who attempted to quell the situation. During the ordeal, the woman remained in the car while her husband threatened to kill her.

Due to the extent of damage to the vehicle, the injured woman stepped out of the vehicle. It was while stepping out of the car that her husband began chopping her to the head and hands.

The matter remains under investigation.
