Italian provider of oil field services, Saipem, has published an expression of interest for Guyanese companies capable of providing accommodation services for its personnel. It is interested in apartments located in the West Bank Demerara, particularly in the vicinity of the new US$300M Vreed-en-Hoop shore base currently under construction

The document said these services must be provided by accommodating Saipem personnel in double bedrooms apartments. It is hopeful of receiving interests by November 2023 for at least five apartments then progressively increase from March to August 2024 to approximately 30 apartments.

Saipem which is one of the primary contractors for ExxonMobil’s Stabroek Block operations, said it is scouting for apartments to be possibly in one single building/location. It said too that each apartment must have a kitchen, living room and two bedrooms. Each bedroom must have a private “ensuite” bathroom. The apartment must also be fully furnished with sofa, television, dining room set and beds, including all appliances (refrigerator, microwave and stove/cooktop/oven).

Interested companies which comply with the above requirements are asked to submit their Expression of Interest (EOI) package via email with the heading “EOI – Accommodation Services” by February 27, 2023, to: [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected] “‌”).

Importantly, Saipem officials said the contracted company must be – at the time of the contract execution – a “Guyanese company” according to the Guyana Local Content Act No. 18 of 2021 and be registered in the “Local Content Register” of Guyanese companies set up by government.

Saipem is one of the world leaders in drilling services, as well as in the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of pipelines and complex infrastructure, onshore and offshore, in the oil and gas market. It also has distinctive competences in operations in harsh environments, remote and deep-water areas.
