Devon Brutus, a 24-year-old painter from Buxton, East Coast Demerara, was charged on Monday with three offences in connection to a fatal accident that occurred on Wednesday, February 15, 2023.
The incident, which took place on Enmore Public Road, resulted in the death of Samantha Moffatt, a 41-year-old female vendor from Haslington New Scheme, also located on the East Coast Demerara.
Brutus was charged with causing death by dangerous driving, driving without a license, and breach of insurance. During his appearance at the Vigilance Magistrate Court, Brutus pleaded not guilty to all three charges. He was granted bail in the amount of $1,050,000 and the case was adjourned until April 11, 2023 for further reporting and fixture.
