With the provision of motorized tillers sourced by the Government of Guyana, many Region 10 and Region 4 farmers will no longer have to manually plough their farms.

This afternoon,  Minister of Agriculture,  Zulfikar Mustapha handed over several inputs to farmers from Region 10 and Region 4 (along the Linden/ Soesdyke Highway).

At a simple handing-over ceremony held at the Ministry’s Regent Street Office, leaders from at least 10 communities collected implements on behalf of farmers operating in their respective communities.

Minister Mustapha said the distribution represents the fulfilment of a promise he made last week Friday when he visited the communities.  The minister explained that his visit was mandated by President Irfaan Ali.

The items will benefit both crop and livestock farmers.

Inputs delivered to each of the 10 communities are valued between $500,000 to $700,000.

Motorized tillers, seeds, basic farming tools, chemicals, Acoushi Ants bait, and Black Giant chicks are among the items given to farmers.
