The US National who was caught with a number of “joints” will be doing 72 hours of community service as he made his first court appearance at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court.

It is alleged that on February 23, at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, 30 year-old Delroy Seaforth of New Jersey, United States of America, had in his possession, 16.8 grams of cannabis. He pleaded guilty to the charge.

Seaforth was nabbed at the airport with 12 rolled joints, after he was subjected to a search by immigration officials.

Magistrate Judy Latchman imposed his sentence at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court. He informed the court that he is visiting Guyana to attend a funeral. He is expected to return to the US next week.

Magistrate Latchman took several things into consideration, including the fact that Seaforth is a US national and a first-time offender. He  will carry out his community service at the Vigilance Police Station.
