PNCR’s Region 9 Representative, Carl Parker and a Lethem Office caretaker were charged with the alleged destruction of property in Lethem today.

Guyana Standard understands that sometime around 10:00 am, ranks in the district arrested Parker and a caretaker of the party’s former office in Region 9. It was further noted that the duo was then escorted to the court and charged with the offensc. Bail was granted to Parker, while the other was released on his own recognizance.

In a statement earlier today, the party strongly condemned the arrest by the Lethem Police.

The party said, “The arrests and fictitious charges are in connection with the criminal destruction of the PNCR Lethem Office by the PPP Regional Executive Officer and the efforts by Mr. Parker and others to legitimately defend the property rights of the party.”

The party said it will oppose these “latest PPP maneuvers legally and politically.” It stated that neither the PNCR or its regional activists “will be intimidated by PPP bullyism and malice.”

The party said it will remain steadfast and confident that the law, justice, and the support of “fair-minded people of Lethem” and Guyana will prevail on in this entire matter.
