An Essequibo pastor who was accused of raping a female member of his congregation is now a free man after the prosecution in the case failed to prove it’s case against the religious Leader.

Pastor Colin Samuels of the People’s Restoration Ministries in Essequibo Coast, was acquitted today after the prosecution failed to make out a prima facie case in the Preliminary Inquiry which began last year.

The pastor was represented by Attorney, Bernard DaSilva who made a no-case submission which was upheld by Magistrate Esther Sam. Because of the sensitivity of the case, the matter was held in-camera.

Pastor Sam was first charged in August 2022 for the offence and granted bail in the sum of $150,000 bail by Magistrate Sam.
