See statement from the Guyana Police Force (GPF):

The Guyana Police Force wishes to publicly state that the individual whose photograph was first posted and shared on Social Media by a person/s labelled as “a suspect in the murder of Sir Mars” was, in fact, never a suspect and was never sought by the Guyana Police Force.

To clarify, at no time whatsoever did the Guyana Police Force issue a Wanted Bulletin for the individual who was wrongfully labelled as a suspect.

In that regard, the general public is hereby reminded that the GPF is the only organization mandated to issue wanted bulletins for murder suspects and no other entity or individual has such lawful authority.

Therefore, members of the public should refrain from such dangerous and unlawful practices, especially when such acts are done with the use of a computer system. This action constitutes an offence under the Cyber Crime Act of 2018.

As such, an investigation is being launched to identify the perpetrator(s) who circulated the photograph of the individual as being Wanted in relation to Sir Mars matter when that was not the case.

Further, such irresponsible actions should be condemned by every right-thinking Guyanese for they also amount to acts which attempted to pervert the course of justice while an active Police investigation is ongoing.
