Ramchand Rooplall, a 55-year-old Essequibo fisherman, was charged with the offence of malicious damage to property, committed on Sarran Lallbachan, a 25-year-old businessman of Hampton Court, Essequibo Coast.
The charge was laid under Section 160 of the Criminal Law Offences Act, chapter 8:01.
The incident occurred on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at Bounty Hall Public Road, Essequibo Coast. The accused appeared on July 24, 2023, at the Charity Magistrate’s Court, before Magistrate Esther Sam, where the charge was read to him.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge. The prosecutor objected to bail, and the defendant was remanded to prison. The case was adjourned July 31 for disclosure of statements.
