Oil and gas staffing services provider, El Dorado Offshore (EDO) has announced that it has taken a significant step to strengthen ties in the technical education sector in Guyana through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the New Amsterdam Technical Institute (NATI).

The signing of this MOU establishes a strategic partnership aimed at fostering technical education and career opportunities for graduates.

The MOU will be in effect for one year and will be renewed annually. As part of the collaboration, NATI will provide EDO with a list of their graduates from various technical fields, including Masonry, Furniture Making, Plumbing, Electrical Installation, Motor Vehicle Repair, Welding, General Office Administration, Data Operation, Renewable Energy – Photovoltaic, Technician Certificate in Architectural Drawing, Ordinary Diploma in Commerce, Administrative Principles & Practice, Diploma in Computer Science, Agricultural Machinery, Mechanical Fitting and Metal Machining, and Ordinary Diploma in Science.

At the signing ceremony, Sherry Ferrell, Local Content and Industrial Relations Director of El Dorado Offshore Guyana Inc., expressed her excitement about the collaboration, emphasizing the belief in the power of education to transform lives and communities. The partnership with NATI aims not only to provide career opportunities for their graduates but also to contribute to the overall growth and development of the technical workforce in the region.

Fiona Rassoul, NATI’s Principal, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership with EDO, emphasizing that it will empower students with technical skills and opportunities, leading to growth within the community. The collaboration ensures that NATI’s graduates are well-equipped to succeed in the job market.

EDO said it will actively contribute to NATI students’ career development by providing support in resume writing and organizing career workshops. Additionally, EDO will offer necessary resources for training to students placed with industry clients. Subject matter experts from EDO will also participate in lecture series at NATI, providing valuable insights and exposure to the students.
