Yogeendra Sukhdeo, the man accused of luring and murdering a young gold dealer last week, is slated to be charged tomorrow.

The charge, Guyana Standard understands, is likely to be “Murder in the Course or Futherance of a Robbery”.

Police say 21-year-old Amit Singh was lured to a home last week under the pretext of a gold sale. The young man was later bludgeoned to death and wrapped in a bedsheet, with close to $8M stolen from his person.

The money was allegedly found at Sukhdeo’s home. The property where Singh was killed, was later revealed to be that of Sukhdeo’s father.

A post-mortem examination (PME) with dissection was performed this morning on Singh’s body at the Memorial Gardens Mortuary by Government Pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh in the presence of two detectives. The body was identified by Singh’s father, Shivnarine Singh, of Delph Street and Campbell Avenue, Campbellville.

At the conclusion of the PME, Dr Singh gave the cause of death as multiple injuries, as follows:

a) Blunt trauma to the head and face with multiple fractures

b) Blunt trauma to the neck

c) Bronchoaspiration of blood

The body was handed over to relatives for burial.
