With the aim of enhancing its logistical operations in the region, Guyana Deepwater Operations, the local subsidiary of SBM Offshore, recently issued a Request for Information (RFI) for a warehouse facility.

The company said the facility must encompass at least 2,000 square feet, and be meticulously designed to meet rigorous standards and bolster the local supply chain.

In the RFI, it says the focal point of this endeavor is the selection of a facility that satisfies several critical criteria. The document states that the location of the warehouse must offer direct road access, be free of obstacles, and feature an appropriate surface for parking. The facility is also required to have an array of security features such as fencing, robust lighting, security bars for windows and doors, and a security hut complete with washroom facilities.

Safety will also be a prime area of concern in the development of this warehouse. The company is requiring emergency egress routes, fire extinguishers, an alarm system, a CCTV system, and smoke detection alarms to ensure the well-being of both personnel and the stored goods.

Furthermore, it said the warehouse must be equipped with a standby electricity generator with an automatic changeover switch, along with routine maintenance and provisions for emergency repairs.

In terms of the commercial considerations, the selected supplier must demonstrate previous project experience on a similar scale and size. Finally, a critical requirement for bidders is the submission of proof of property ownership, affirming the supplier’s commitment to the warehouse’s long-term success.
