Cops in Regional Division 2 are investigating the death of Mohindra Mohan, a 47-year-old rice farmer from Devonshire Castle, Essequibo Coast. This incident took place between 04:30 and 07:00 hrs on Tuesday in the Devonshire Castle Backdam area.

Initial inquiries revealed that Mohindra Mohan resided with his 69-year-old mother, Ghanishree Mohan, who is a pensioner also hailing from Devonshire Castle. According to the elderly woman, her son, Mohindra, was a rice farmer and had a history of alcohol use. She stated that on the fateful morning, at approximately 04:30 hrs, her son left home as he typically did, heading to his rice farm using his bicycle.

Around 07:00 hrs, while at home, she received distressing news that her son was found lying on the road. Responding promptly, she rushed to the location and discovered her son lying motionless, with his bicycle nearby. He was wearing a brown shirt, blue shorts, and long brown boots at the time.

The local authorities were alerted, and the police were notified. Crime scene investigators processed and documented the scene, yet no signs of violence were evident on the body. Subsequently, Mohan was transported to the Suddie Public Hospital, where he was declared dead upon arrival. His body awaits a Post-Mortem Examination at the Suddie Public Hospital’s Mortuary.
