Cops in Regional Division 4’B’ are investigating the murder of Ricardo Bailey, 38, a labourer of Bagostown, East Bank Demerara (EBD). He was reportedly killed at Andy’s Bar, Bagostown, at about 21:00hrs yesterday.

The suspect has only been identified as a 28-year-old man from Bagostown.

Inquiries revealed that the suspect and victim were among several persons imbibing at the back of Andy’s shop when an argument erupted, which escalated into a fight.

While Bailey and the suspect wrestled, it is alleged that the 28-year-old drew a knife from the waist of his pants and stabbed the victim multiple times before making his escape, west along Norton Street.

Bailey was then escorted to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre by public-spirited citizens and was pronounced dead on arrival.

The body was examined, and five stab wounds were seen (one to the left shoulder, left side abdomen, left hand, right side lower back, and right forearm).

The body is presently at the Memorial Gardens mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.

The suspect is still on the run. Investigations are ongoing.
