Authorities from Regional Division Four ‘A’ are investigating a robbery targeting three medical students, which reportedly took place yesterday around 23:20hrs on First Street UG Road, Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara(ECD).

According to initial reports, the victims, who reside in an apartment at First Street, were pounced upon by two male suspects riding a motorcycle.

The victims have been identified as Mahendra Maheldajam, 23, who had a silver ring valued at $20,000 stolen from him; Deepatie Rejeergopaul, 23, who was relieved of a silver chain valued at $60,000; and Laveanya Ravi, 25, who had a silver chain valued at $25,000 taken from her.

Investigations revealed that the three victims were walking home along the mentioned street when the two suspects approached on a motorcycle.

The pillion rider disembarked, brandishing his right hand near his waistband, and demanded the victims to surrender their belongings. After the robbery, the suspects fled on the motorcycle in a westerly direction. Subsequently, the incident was reported to the police.

Efforts are currently underway to apprehend the perpetrators as investigations continue.
