Former President, David Granger is urging young and first-time voters not to be swayed by rhetoric and empty promises of political candidates during this electoral cycle. During an interview with Kaieteur News, the former leader of the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) urged youths to realize that they have the opportunity to once and for all “bury the ‘winner-takes-all’ practice that has been smothering their neighbourhoods, villages and households.

Granger said young voters should demand inclusionary solutions to their problems, adding that parties must demonstrate a track record of delivering for their communities. The former president alluded that voters must ensure their candidates have concrete plans to address safety, sanitation, social cohesion, sports, schooling, flooding and fires.

He said voters should also strengthen the solidarity of their constituencies and support candidates who they know and think that they can trust.

With 10 weeks left before E-Day, Granger urged voters to look and vote for substance above all else.
