Agriculture Minister, Zulfikar Mustapha, has underscored the increasing interdependence of Guyana’s agriculture, manufacturing, and services sectors, noting that their integration is driving economic growth and job creation.
While delivering the keynote address at the Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association (GMSA) Annual General Meeting 2026 on Friday at Herdmanston Lodge, Minister Mustapha said the sectors are no longer operating in silos but are forming integrated value chains that support national development.

“Agriculture, manufacturing, and services are no longer operating in silos; rather, they are increasingly interdependent, forming integrated value chains that drive economic growth, job creation, and national resilience. I commend the GMSA for consistently providing a platform where key stakeholders can engage meaningfully, reflect on progress, and chart a strategic path forward for Guyana’s productive and service sectors,” the Minister stated.

Minister Mustapha also noted that the continued growth of crop, livestock, and aquaculture industries is generating increased demand for packaging, cold storage, and logistics services. To support this, he said new cold storage facilities are being developed in Charity, Parika, and Port Kaituma, with work scheduled to commence on an agro-processing port facility at Parika later this year.
