Minister of Public Utilities and Aviation, Deodat Indar, attended the media launch for the joint ICAO/EASA Thurs Global Regional Safety Oversight Organisation (RSOO) and Regional Accident and Incident Investigation Organisation (RAIO) Forum for Aviation Safety, which Guyana will host September 29-30, 2026.

In his remarks, Minister Indar noted the aviation safety event will position Guyana at the center of global aviation dialogue as it reinforces the country’s emergence as a serious aviation and transportation hub within the Caribbean and South American region.

The minister further stated that the event will see Guyana hosting international delegates, regulators, aviation experts, industry leaders, and development partners.

Among the salient points raised, Minister Indar emphasised that the event is in keeping with President Dr. Irfaan Ali’s vision and national development agenda for the aviation sector as Guyana commits to being a constructive regional and global aviation partner.

Parliamentary Secretary, Thandi R. McAllister, MP; Aviation Advisor, Lennox Shuman; Director General, Alfonso De Armas; GCAA Director General, Lt. Col. (ret’d) Egbert Field, and GCAA Deputy Director General Saheed Sulaman, among other aviation professionals also attended the event.
