The Office of Professional Responsibility is investigating a shooting incident which occurred on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at about 09:20hrs at Block ‘E’ Sophia, Georgetown, during which a 19-year-old labourer of the said address was injured.

Initial enquiries revealed that ranks on mobile patrol duty received information that the 19-year-old was wanted in connection with an alleged Robbery Under Arms.

The ranks subsequently observed the 19-year-old riding a motorcycle and pursued him. Upon reaching the front of his yard, he reportedly dropped the motorcycle and ran into the yard.

During the encounter, one round was discharged by a rank from his service firearm, which struck the 19-year-old on his left side abdomen.

He was apprehended and escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where he is presently receiving medical attention. His condition is listed as stable.

One 9mm spent shell was recovered and lodged. The service firearm was also lodged for examination.

The matter remains under investigation by the Office of Professional Responsibility.
