ExxonMobil Guyana will soon undertake pipeline maintenance activities offshore of Crane, West Coast Demerara.
“The work will address a finding on a near-shore section of the pipeline identified by inspection activities earlier this year, and is part of our commitment to maintaining the safety, integrity and reliability of the infrastructure,” the oil major said.
Guyana Standard understands that these maintenance activities are scheduled to commence on October 14, 2026, and are expected to continue until around December 1, 2026. The work is being conducted in accordance with international standards and will help ensure the pipeline’s long-term integrity.
The pipeline is currently pressurised with inert gas (nitrogen) and is not yet in operation. As a result, it does not pose a risk to the public or the environment, ExxonMobil said.
“We aim to complete this work before startup of Gas-to-Energy operations to minimize potential for maintenance interruptions in the future.
ExxonMobil Guyana is coordinating with relevant stakeholders regarding the activities. A marine notice containing information for mariners operating in the area will be issued by MARAD,” a statement from the oil major noted on Wednesday.
