Ballots in 83 boxes were counted today as Day 30 of the recount of votes cast in the March elections came to an end this evening at the Arthur Chung Convention Centre (ACCC).

According to the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM)’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Yolanda Ward, 81 boxes were counted for Region Four (Demerara/Mahaica); one for Region Six (East Berbice/Corentyne); and another for Region 10 (Upper Demerara/Berbice).

The count of Regions Six and 10 concluded earlier today.

The other electoral districts that have been completed are: Regions One (Barima/Waini); Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam); Three (Essequibo Islands/West Demerara): Five (Mahaica/Berbice); Seven (Cuyuni/Mazaruni); Eight (Potaro/Siparuni); and Nine (Upper Takutu/Upper Essequibo).

Today’s exercise brings the overall total of boxes completed to date, to 2,096 or 89.6% of the 2,339 boxes that contained ballots cast in these elections.
