Deonarine Dookhoo, 41, of No. 3 Village West Coast Berbice (WCB) was charged today with the offence of Murder Contrary to Common Law. The crime was committed against his 64-year-old mother, Teshwattie Jaglall between June 30 and July 1, 2021.
The accused appeared at the Fort Wellington Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Peter Hugh. He was not required to plea and was remanded to prison. The case was postponed to July 19.
Jaglall, called ‘Auntie Babo’ was discovered lying motionless on her right side in the hallway of her home clad in a black nightdress. Marks were seen on Jaglall’s right wrist; three on her right shoulder; two on her right finger; one on her elbow; one on her right eye and one in the middle of her head. Further investigation at the crime scene was conducted, and a ‘shine cutlass’ without any bloodstain suspected to be the murder weapon was found on a table at the back of the house.
