ExxonMobil’s subsidiary, Esso Exploration and Production Limited (EEPGL) recently inked a contract with Norwegian offshore seismic surveyor, PGS, for 4D seismic acquisition offshore Guyana.

Guyana Standard understands that PGS will deploy a Titan class seismic acquisition vessel in the fourth quarter of 2021 with the acquisition slated for completion in the first quarter of 2022.

Following the announcement, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for PGS, Rune Olav Pedersen said, “We acquired the 4D baseline of this area and consider it strategically important for us to be awarded a repeat survey for parts of the initial programme. We are very pleased with the recognition of our Ramform acquisition platform and superior multi-sensor GeoStreamer technology, which are well suited for high-quality 4D acquisition programs.” He said too that the “contract adds further visibility to our order book for the coming winter season.”

In the meantime, ExxonMobi’s subsidiary is pursuing several appraisal wells such as the Stabroek Block’s Whiptail-2 which will be drilled by the Stena DrillMax.
In Guyana’s giant Stabroek block, ExxonMobil produces oil through the Liza Destiny, a floating production, storage and offloading vessel with a nameplate capacity of 120,000 gross barrels of oil per day. That capacity is expected to increase to 130,000 barrels of oil per day following the tests on the recently installed flash gas compressor that had undergone improvements in the USA.

Thus far, over 9 billion barrels of oil equivalent resources have been discovered in the block.
