President Dr. Irfaan Ali announced today in Parliament that Guyana will soon serve as ExxonMobil’s global hub for developing skills related to floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessels.

This development follows the commissioning of the US$13 million FPSO facility simulator, FacTor, earlier this year at the Guyana Technical Training College Institute (GTTCI) in Port Mourant, Berbice. The simulator represents the first phase of GTTCI, a collaborative project involving the Government of Guyana and stakeholders from the Stabroek Block, including ExxonMobil Guyana, Hess Corporation, and CNOOC.

President Ali emphasized that this state-of-the-art simulator is crucial to Guyana’s efforts to build a skilled workforce for its growing oil sector. He was also pleased to note that the government’s US$120 million investment in constructing the training college at Port Mourant is slated for completion in 2025.

He further pointed out that having the FacTor simulator locally will lead to significant cost savings by eliminating the need to send personnel abroad for training.

“It therefore pleases me to announce that ExxonMobil, the operator of the Stabroek Block, has communicated its intention to establish GTTC as a global hub for FPSO skills training,” President Ali stated.

This initiative, he added, supports Guyana’s broader vision of becoming an international hub for education and training.
