Police are investigating an alleged double murder which occurred on Friday August 7, 2026 about 09:30hrs at Water Street, Georgetown.
Dead are Wreford Vincent Trim, called “Junior Browne”, a 23-year-old vendor of Durban Backlands, Georgetown and Tyrone Captain, a 36-year-old labourer of Eversham, Corentyne, Berbice and Beepat Squatting Area, Sophia.
Preliminary investigations revealed that an altercation occurred involving the two men and a 29-year-old salesman of Industry, East Coast Demerara, during which both men sustained stab wounds.
Trim was subsequently found on Commerce Street, Georgetown, where he was pronounced dead by a doctor from the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation. Captain was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where he succumbed while receiving medical attention.
The 29-year-old suspect was arrested and remains in Police custody. A knife suspected to have been used during the incident was recovered and lodged pending examination.
CCTV footage was obtained and forms part of the ongoing investigation.
The bodies are awaiting post-mortem examinations.
