The Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) says it has completed its investigation into the allegation made against an Inspector and three other ranks of the Guyana Police Force of theft. The probe was launched following a complaint made by a Chinese businessman that during a ‘stop and search’ exercise, the ranks searched his vehicle, and in the process, allegedly stole the sum of $4M.
The four ranks were subsequently detained and placed under closed arrest on Thursday but have since been released under open arrest. They remain at the Tactical Service Unit. The case file is expected to be submitted to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Chambers tomorrow for legal advice.
