Police in Regional Division 4 ‘C’ are investigating an alleged Robbery Under Arms which occurred on Tuesday April 21, 2026 about 20:48hrs, at a business establishment on Mon Repos Public Road, East Coast Demerara. The victims have been identified as two Chinese nationals of the said address.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims were in the process of closing their business when four males arrived on two motorcycles from an eastern direction. Two of the men, who were the pillion riders, reportedly dismounted, one armed with a suspected firearm and the other armed with a knife and entered the premises.

The suspects allegedly pushed one of the victims to the ground and relieved him of a cellphone and a suitcase containing clothing, while the other victim was held at knifepoint and relieved of cash found on person, along with cash from the business register. The suspects then made good their escape south onto the railway embankment.

Police patrols responded and gave chase. However, the suspects escaped into Regional Division 4 ‘A’. During the pursuit, a cellphone belonging to one of the victims was reportedly dropped by the suspects and later recovered by a Community Policing Group member, who handed it over to the police.

Acting on intelligence received and in coordination with the Guyana Police Force Command Center, police ranks conducted an operation at Robb Street, Georgetown, where a 21-year-old security guard, a 22-year-old construction worker of Robb Street, Georgetown, and a 25-year-old mason of Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown, were contacted and arrested.

A search was conducted at the premises, during which two suspected 9mm pistols with eighteen matching rounds of ammunition, one toy gun, three knives and two XR motorcycles were found. Cash was also found on one of the suspects.

Acting on further information received, police ranks subsequently went to the home of a 19-year-old construction worker, where he was contacted and arrested. A search was conducted at the premises, during which a quantity of cash and two cellular phones were found.

The fours suspects are presently in police custody assisting with investigations. CCTV cameras were observed at the business establishment and are being reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.
