A Dolphin Secondary School teacher, identified as Tineka Hicks, this morning lost her life during her commute to work.
Guyana Standard understands that Hicks was travelling in a route 42 bus on the Diamond Bypass Road, East Bank Demerara when the driver loss control and ended up in a trench.
The accident also left two school children severely injured. The unidentified bus driver, who was largely unharmed, is reportedly in police custody.
Dolphin Secondary School acknowledged the tragic loss on its Facebook page. The school said that its management and staff are deeply “saddened by this sudden loss. Tineka was a valued member of our school family whose presence, dedication, and contributions will be greatly missed by students, staff, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.”
