A 24-year-old woman was busted at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) this afternoon with a quantity of cocaine.

The woman who has been identified as Rena Devi Jagernauth was nabbed while trying to smuggle cocaine in four books to the United States of America.

The Guyana Standard has been informed that Jagernauth cut open holes in the centre of the four books and stuffed the illicit drugs inside. Reports are that she then attempted to glue the cover of the books together.

The bust was made by ranks from the Guyana Police Force (GPF)’s Narcotics Branch. Up to press time, the woman was being questioned at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Eve Leary, Georgetown.
