The police have arrested 39-year-old Bisram Paul, who escaped after crashing his taxi with two passengers inside at Diamond, East Bank Demerara (EBD) last night.

The accident happened outside of Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL).

The Guyana Standard has been informed that Bisram lost control of the car he was driving which was a Toyota Black Raum, PKK 6473, and crashed into a utility pole.

His two passengers had to be rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre for treatment. Traffic ranks confirmed that the driver ran away from the scene and was arrested today.

It is suspected that the alleged serial robber was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

Only a week ago, Bisram of Lot 399 Third Street, Herstelling, was placed on station bail after he threatened to burn his mother’s house.

Additionally, he has a matter before the court where he attempted to steal a Toyota IST from Herstelling on March 21, last.

Luckily, the victim saw him when he broke the driver’s side window of her car and raised an alarm. The same Toyota Raum, PKK 6473 was used in the attempted carjacking.
