Days after Christopher Mansfield, a teenage footballer, was gunned down in Albouystown, his friend, Shamar Harvey, was this afternoon charged with the killing. But Harvey caused quite a scene for his first court appearance when he pulled down his pants, leaving those seated in the courtroom to see his exposed genitals.

The man, Shamar Harvey, 21 of Albouystown, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts, charged with the murder of Christopher Mansfield.

On his arrival into the courtroom, Harvey proceeded to pull his pants down. He shook his body momentarily before pulling his pants back up. Soon after, the Magistrate exited her chambers and Harvey shouted, “Me ain’t kill nobody; the only thing I did was cuff the boy.”

Harvey was not required to plead to the charge which stated that on March 31, 2019 at Albouystown, he murdered Mansfield, called “Gully Bop.”

Harvey, who told the court he is unemployed, upon hearing the charge stated, “The police showed me a video in which I was running behind the gunman with a knife. I don’t even know why I would run behind someone with a knife and the person had a gun.”

Harvey then turned to the Mansfield’s mother who was crying in court and said, “Aunty I would never kill my friend. I did not do it. All I did was cuff him that’s all.

Police Prosecutor, Sanj Singh told the court that file is incomplete and asked the court for four weeks.

The Magistrate, after listening to the prosecutor, remanded Harvey to prison and instructed him to make his next court appearance on May 10, 2019 for reports.

According to information, Mansfield was shot three times about his body and died at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC.

It is believed that the shooting was gang related. Reports are that, on the day in question, the deceased and a relative were involved in a shooting incident in the community.

It is unclear if the duo opened fire on someone or a house. However, no one was injured.
