This year, Minister Lawrence is attending the World Health Assembly for the third time and has established Guyana as a strong advocate for universal healthcare to bring improved access and quality healthcare to all of Guyana’s citizens, especially the most vulnerable.

The WHO executive board has responsibility for oversight that gives effect to the decisions and policies of the World Health Assembly. It is an advisory body to facilitate the work of the WHO.

The Executive Board is composed of 34 individuals and meets twice per year, in January and May. The 145th session of the Executive Board meets in Geneva from May 29-30, 2019.

The honour of serving in this esteemed position affords Guyana the opportunity to shape global and regional health policy and to bring more health system resources to Guyana and the region of the Americas, thereby improving health care access and services to all its residents.
