The body of one of the four fishermen who went missing during what police believe to be a pirate attack, has been found.

Kawal Kissoon, 36, of Letter Kenny Village, Berbice was found on the Abary foreshore with his hands and feet tied.

There are several cuts on his body and black and blue marks, indicating that the father of one was tortured before being thrown overboard.

Guyana Standard has been informed that the body was found on Friday afternoon but it was only this afternoon it was identified after the fishermen’s relatives learned that their fishing boat was found abandoned with bloodstains.

Kissoon’s’ remains were identified by his wife.

The search is still on for Marvin Tamessar; Lamar Petrie, 20 and boat captain, Vishnu Seeram, 20, all of Berbice.

According to information received, the men left the Number 65 Village Wharf to ply their trade in Suriname on October 05, last and were scheduled to return in two weeks.

However, yesterday afternoon, a resident of Wellington Park, Corentyne, found the men’s fishing boat abandoned on Foreshore.

The engine was missing and there were bloodstains inside of the boat. The missing men’s clothing and haversacks with ration were also discovered.

Coast guards have joined the search for the three remaining fishermen.
