The other night I go to sleep again and when I wake up all my natty was cut from my head. Look how me ain’t get no natty on my head now. She don’t hear,” were the words of a man who appeared in court today.

The defendant, 29-year-old Kelvin Carol appeared before Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Courts.

He pleaded guilty with explanation to the charge which stated that on November 7, 2019, at Barr Street, Kitty, Georgetown, he made use of threatening language towards Jean Carol, his mother.

In his explanation, he stated, “I didn’t really threaten her all I did was tell her me and she gon get big wrong if she don’t stop cutting my natty. Look this woman cut off all my hair so that she own could grow. Look how she own long and flourishing. I need justice for my hair.”

The mother, who was present in court, told the magistrate that her son needs help as he is a patient of Government Psychiatrist Dr. Bhiro Harry.

However, the man, upon hearing what his mother said, turned to the magistrate and stated, “I use to play a mad role but after my mom carry me to Dr. Harry I stop play mad because the man pull out a long needle and bore me. Since then I don’t play mad no more. That mek I stop play mad right away. I am not going back there.”

The Magistrate, after listening to both sides, remanded Carol to prison until December 11.

She also instructed that a psychiatric evaluation be conducted on him.
