Bourne denied all the charges after they were read to him.
Facts presented by Police Prosecutor Christopher Morris stated that on the day in question, the 62-year-old elderly woman was at home painting her fence when she was approached by Bourne and another individual. The court heard Bourne snatched the elderly woman’s chains and after she looked at him, he shot her to the left leg. The men then made good their escape on a motorcycle. However, on March 17, Bourne was arrested by ranks and on arrival to the station, he handed over to the ranks the firearm along with the matching rounds. He then took ranks to the person whom he sold the chains to. Hence, the present charges. The Prosecutor objected to bail being granted to Bourne on the grounds that the victim is still hospitalized and the bullet is still lodged in her foot. The Prosecutor also highlighted the serious nature of the allegation and the penalty the charges attracts.
The Magistrate, after listening to the facts, remanded Bourne to prison until May 15.
Last August, Bourne was slapped with four armed robbery charges and discharging a firearm at one of the robbery victims. Those matters are currently ongoing.
