A 59-year-old man is the latest COVID-19 fatality in Guyana.

The identity of the man is unknown at this time. Public Health Minister, Volda Lawrence has confirmed that the patient resided in Region Four.

This is the second death in less than 24-hours.
Guyana has confirmed, so far, 19 cases of the virus.

Earlier this evening, the government reported that Osa Collins, a 78 year-old resident of New Amsterdam, passed away at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.

Collins was considered an ‘imported case’ as she had recently travelled to the United States of America.

As of midday today, the regional breakdown was:  one confirmed case in Region Three; 17 in Region Four with one inconclusive; and one in Region 6.

The total number of persons who have been tested has moved from 52 to 70, with 19 positives, 50 negatives and one inconclusive.

The number of persons on home quarantine known by the ministry is 119.
