A woman is currently in police custody after she handed over an unlicensed pistol allegedly belonging to her brother to the police.

At the time, police ranks, acting on information, went to the home of a farmer at DeVeldt, East Canje, Berbice River, to conduct a search for arms and ammunition.

However, at the time of the search, her brother was not at home and the woman has since been detained.

Efforts are being made to contact her brother for questioning.

On the same day in question, ranks proceeded to another house at Bartica Village in the Berbice River where they conducted a search and found twenty kilograms of suspected cannabis packaged in twenty-three parcels, as well as twenty pounds of suspected dried cannabis of which the total street value is $1,600,000.00.

At the said house, ranks also found an unlicensed shotgun, and several identification documents in favor of the occupant who is presently being sought.
