A motorcyclist, who was struck down and dragged by a speeding hearse on October 12, 2020, succumbed this morning at the Georgetown Public Hospital Cooperation (GPHC).

Tulsie Maniram, also known as “Bully,” 56, of Lot 290 Hampton Court, took his last breath at about 05:00hrs this morning. He never regained consciousness since the accident.

The van is owned by the Regional Democratic Council and attached to the Essequibo Funeral Home.

According to the Guyana Police Force, Maniram was proceeding south along the eastern side of Devonshire Castle Public Road at a normal speed on motorcycle CJ 6341, while the van, GNN 5061, driven by Bharat Joseph, also known as ‘Rasta,’ was proceeding in the same direction some distance behind albeit at a fast pace.

Joseph had told Police that he lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a turn and collided with the motorcycle’s rear.

As a result, Maniram fell onto the roadway and ended up under the hearse where he was dragged. The hearse then toppled and came to a halt in a trench located on the eastern side of the road.

Maniram was removed from under the vehicle in an unconscious state and rushed to the Suddie hospital before being transferred to the GPHC. He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) until the time of his death.
